Bathroom Pods

WET AREAS THAT ARRIVE FINISHED.

One pod per room, delivered waterproofed, plumbed and fitted out. Craned in, connected, done.

We build to your drawings rather than to a catalogue, so the pod fits your grid instead of your grid accommodating the pod.

BASE SELECTION

The base is the decision that matters. It sets the weight, the set-down, the acoustic performance, how the pod is waterproofed, and how far it can depart from a standard rectangle. We supply both and specify against your structure rather than against what we happen to stock.

Our bases are supplied tiled and reach a watertight result by different routes, and that difference drives the certification conversation.

Both are built into an I2R steel frame with secondary containment, membrane and a tiled finish.

Option A
GRC — GLASS REINFORCED CONCRETE

A cast base that behaves like a conventional bathroom floor. Takes a full screed and tile bed, sits rigid, and sounds solid underfoot. More tolerant of bespoke geometry and irregular set-outs.

Waterproofed with an applied membrane over the base, detailed the same way a certifier expects to see it on site — and the finished system is WaterMark certified.

CERTIFICATION
WaterMark certified
WATERPROOFING
Applied membrane, included
WEIGHT
Heavier — check craneage and floor loading
ACOUSTIC
Stronger impact performance
GEOMETRY
Accommodates non-standard shapes
FINISH
Tiled, full bed, conventional detailing
GRC Application: When the certification path needs to be settled before you commit, where acoustic separation matters, or where rooms vary. Apartments and aged care usually land here.
Option B
SMC — SHEET MOULDED COMPOUND

A one-piece moulded tray with no joints anywhere in the wet zone. Light, dimensionally repeatable to fine tolerance, and fast to install.

No membrane is applied, because none is needed — the tray and its integral upstand are the waterproof layer. There is no membrane to fail, no junction to detail and no wet trade involved at any point. Tiles are laid over the top where the finish calls for it.

CERTIFICATION
Confirmed per project
WATERPROOFING
Integral to the tray — no membrane required
WEIGHT
Significantly lighter — easier lifts
GEOMETRY
Moulded — best on repeated layouts
FINISH
Tiled, or moulded surface left exposed
SMC Application: High-repetition projects where every room is identical and lift weight or floor loading is tight. Student accommodation and hotels usually land here.

INDUSTRIES

USE CASE

Our pods are suitable for a range of buildings across a range of industries.

01

STUDENT ACCOMMODATION

Hundreds of identical rooms on a program tied to an academic year that does not move. Repetition is the whole opportunity — the pod is designed once and repeated exactly, and the wet trade disappears from a building where you are trying to hand over every room on the same day.

Durability matters more than in any other sector. These rooms take heavy use from occupants who do not own them.

02

APARTMENT BUILDINGS

Wet areas are where defect claims come from, and in strata that exposure runs for years after handover. A pod moves waterproofing into a controlled environment where every unit is water-tested before it is craned in.

Acoustic separation between apartments is the other constraint, and it usually drives the base selection. Set-down coordination needs to be agreed early — particularly on post-tensioned slabs where late changes are expensive.

03

AGED CARE

The most demanding brief of the four. Level entry, slip resistance, wider door leaves, reinforced walls for grab rails, and enough clear space for a resident to be assisted by staff. All of that is easier to get right in a factory than to retrofit on site.

Cleanliness matters too — coved junctions and minimal joints reduce infection control risk over the life of the building.

04

HOTELS

In a hotel the bathroom is a large part of what the guest is paying for, and it has to be identical in every key. Consistency across two hundred rooms is difficult to achieve with site trades and straightforward to achieve with a mould and a controlled line.

Programs are usually driven by an opening date with revenue attached, which makes the sequencing saving worth more here than anywhere else.

BUILT IN LAYERS, TESTED BEFORE IT LEAVES

CONSTRUCTION

An independent I2R steel frame carries the pod, so it does not rely on your structure for rigidity in transit or in the lift. The frame is ours whichever base you specify.

Above the frame the two systems differ. A GRC base takes secondary containment, screed, an applied membrane and a tiled finish. An SMC base is a single moulded tray with the upstand formed in one piece, tiled over where required — no membrane, no junctions.

Every pod is water-tested and signed off in the factory. The ITP records come with it.

INCLUSIONS

LET US DO THE HEAVY LIFTING

SEQUENCING

Tiler, waterproofer, plumber, electrician and glazier all off the critical path, in every room, on every level.

DEFECTS

Wet areas are the single largest source of defect claims. Ours are built and water-tested under cover before they leave.

CONSISTENCY

Room 4 on level 2 is identical to room 40 on level 9. No variation between trades, floors or weeks.

ACCESS

No wet trades working at height in a partially enclosed building, and no water in a structure you are trying to dry out.
